Sympose Studio glossary

Definitions for the project, arrangement, agent, sound, and synchronization concepts used in Sympose.

Project and arrangement

  • Project — The local-first unit containing music, settings, assets, chats, and run history.
  • Arrangement — The song timeline containing track lanes and clips.
  • Track — A MIDI or audio lane with mixer, Device, recording, and automation state.
  • Clip — An independent editable MIDI or audio region placed on a track.
  • Clip view — The focused content editor for the selected clip: piano roll for MIDI or waveform controls for audio.
  • Device view — The instrument and effects editor for the selected track.
  • Asset — Audio or other project media identified and validated independently from a private filesystem path.
  • Automation — A time-based envelope controlling an eligible mixer, instrument, or effect parameter.

Agent work

  • Chat — A conversation within a project. Several chats can work against the same current project state.
  • Run — One attributable unit of agent work, including intent, steps, changes, warnings, and recovery state.
  • Plan revision — A read-only proposed scope that must be approved before Plan execution.
  • Checkpoint — A durable pause for a question, approval, interruption, or recovery boundary.
  • Skill — Trusted versioned expertise loaded for a task; it adds guidance, not authority.
  • Revert — A guarded operation that reverses changes from a run when newer project work makes that safe.

Sound and storage

  • Device — An instrument or effect in a track’s left-to-right signal chain.
  • Preset — A named, compatible device configuration. Factory presets are immutable; user presets are reusable copies.
  • Generated audio — AI-produced one-shot, sample, or loop material committed as an ordinary project asset and clip or Synth source (not a separate temporary review queue).
  • Publish — The explicit first transition from a local-only project into cloud-backed synchronization.
  • Sync — Reconciliation between the local project and its published cloud state.
