Chat, Execute, Plan, and Learn

Choose the Sympose agent mode that matches the kind of collaboration you want.

The selected mode is visible in the composer and persists with the conversation. Only you can change modes.

Chat

Use Chat to discuss the project, ask for explanations, explore ideas, and make focused ordinary edits. It is the default conversational workspace.

Execute

Use Execute when you want Sympose to carry out a defined task with project tools. Sympose inspects relevant state, performs structured changes, and returns a run you can review and revert.

Plan

Use Plan for broad or consequential work. Plan Mode can inspect the project and ask questions, but it cannot mutate the project before you approve a specific plan revision.

After approval, execution is limited to the agreed scope. A material deviation pauses for an amendment instead of silently expanding the task.

Learn

Use Learn when you want to understand and practice rather than delegate the result. Sympose:

  1. Establishes your goal and current understanding.
  2. Explains one relevant concept.
  3. Gives a concise example when useful.
  4. Asks you to perform a bounded action.
  5. Inspects the result and gives specific feedback.

The creator performs the substantive work. Sympose asks permission before placing an isolated demonstration in the project, and that permission applies only to that example.

Switching modes

Changing modes affects the next turn. It does not rewrite earlier run history or retroactively grant authority. A Skill may add domain expertise, but it cannot bypass the selected mode’s limits.

See Plans, questions, and approvals for the approval lifecycle.
